Stawell, which is 235km from Melbourne (2½ hour drive by car) with a population of 7,000 is the central town in an agricultural area of seven or eight smaller communities, which make up part of the Wimmera region, of Western Victoria. The journey from Melbourne to Stawell along the Western Highway is easy and scenic.
When driving to Stawell from Melbourne take the Western Highway to Ararat. The Highway turns to the right or you could drive through the main street shopping area, then turn right at the Post Office then left onto the Western Highway and head towards Stawell. Stawell is 32km from Ararat.
